Prince Harry and Meghan Markle poised to become 'leaders' in major career shake-up
EXCLUSIVE: The Sussexes have a chance to tap into a "large and growing market" that insulates them from their detractors, the founder of a US-based PR firm tells Daily Express US.Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have an opportunity to focus on "mission-driven businesses" that have a "meaningful impact" now that they are done exposing the inner workings of the Royal Family, a PR expert tells Daily Express US.
Much speculation has been swirling around the Duke and Duchess of Sussexes' next career move.
The rumblings began in June when a source close to the couple claimed they were going to “stop” making tell-all Netflix documentaries, publishing memoirs and taking part in interviews that reveal the inner workings of the Royal Family because there is “nothing left to say”.
That same month, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's multi-year partnership deal with Spotify worth $20 million collapsed, further signaling a career change is in the offing.
According to Stephen Reiff, Founder and Managing Partner of Arvo PR & Executive Communications, the current moment offers the couple a chance to really make a difference.
Career change: The Sussexes have a chance to pivot to 'mission-driven businesses', claims PR expert
The PR expert explained: "At best, they'll work to evolve their perception from armchair critic to leaders who are actually in the game, working to build something with meaningful impact."
Mr Reiff reckons this could mean a greater focus on non-profit endeavors such as the Invictus Games, a sporting event the Duke founded to aid the rehabilitation of injured or sick military service members and veterans.
Harry and Meghan may also "launch a mission-driven business, and I wouldn't be surprised if it focused on kids and/or parenting", the PR founder said.
As Mr Reiff noted, "not only is that a large and growing market, but it's also very hard for others to critique".
Opportunity: A focus on parenting would be harder to criticize, claims Mr Reiff
He added: "As the adage goes, business people want to be celebrities and celebrities want to be business people. As such, I think you'll see them pivot to mission-driven businesses."
In the near-term, Harry is rumored to have another Netflix documentary in the pipeline.
The streaming giant, which previously aired the explosive 2022 documentary ‘Harry & Meghan’, has now reportedly offered the Duke an idea for another show, but this time it's a solo venture.
It's understood that Harry is planning a trip to Africa - a continent that's close to his heart.
Africa trip: Harry is rumored to have another Netflix documentary in the pipelineThe father-of-two has well-publicised links with the continent, working in both South Africa, Botswana and Lesotho on a variety of charity and wildlife conservation projects.
The Duke would also be following in the footsteps of his late mother, Princess Diana.
Diana's iconic walk through an active minefield in Angola years ago helped usher in a global ban on the deadly weapons and is still very much discussed today.
A source told Page Six that the solo trip to Africa will transport Harry back to his “roots”.
They said: “Obviously, Harry has a lot of roots in Africa and he feels at home there.”
It's unclear why Harry and Meghan's deal with Spotify was nixed, but tech companies have been cutting costs in a rough economic environment and Spotify has not been immune.
Six months after announcing that it would cut six percent of its global workforce or about 600 jobs, Spotify said that it was trimming another 200 jobs.
The company said at the time that it would be combining podcast networks Parcast and Gimlet into its Spotify Studios operation.
