Prince William and Meghan Markle found themselves unfavourably compared to Prince Harry with their 'increasingly obvious ploy' in the social media sphere and the Earthshot prizePrince William and Kate Middleton were accused of an "increasingly obvious ploy" as the pair make continued appearances on YouTube and social media.
The Prince and Princess of Wales were blasted by a royal commentator who believes the duo are showing signs of "vainglorious publicity seeking" as the pair promote the Earthshot awards.
But their environmental push has been questioned by expert Daniela Elser, whose column criticised the royal duo after they promised a platform to the Earthshot prize finalists.
Although told they would be there to "inspire optimism", the videos did not strike a chord with Elser, who compared the release to Prince Harry's publicity style in her latest column.
Prince William's appearances with Earthshot winners was criticised by a royal expertWriting in her news.com.au column, Elser alleged: "The backstory here: in May, Earthshot officially partnered with YouTube, promising to 'spotlight our finalists and inspire optimism', and this 15-minute outing is the debut offering.
"Oh brother … and I mean that literally.
"Watching this video, it feels like the sort of relentlessly self-promotional, dignity-lite guff that Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have merrily put out."
Although Elser described the Earthshot prize and its aims as "bloody good stuff", she said the heavy-handed publicity to follow on from it was poorly placed.
The Prince and Princess of Wales' are making frequent public appearances
She continued: "However, while the video does highlight the innovation of these three companies, it seems much more intent on vigorously promoting William and framing him as if he’s personally giving CPR to in-danger penguins in the Antarctic.
"In fact, the last few months have seen such a Vesuvius-like explosion of Wales promotional videos and social media outings that we are close to a really off-putting, pass-the-sickbag tipping point."
Recent appearances from the royal duo are equally as frequent, as Elser pointed out their public sightings.
She noted Kate Middleton had been spotted playing piano at Eurovision and joining Roger Federer for a spot of tennis.
